To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to express my strong support for the Warrior’s Promise Foundation.
I first became aware of the Warrior’s Promise Foundation at the Idaho National Guard’s Commanders and Volunteer Symposium last spring. I am the chairperson for our Family Readiness Group (FRG), and Sherryl Foster had a short but informative presentation about the foundation. I later contacted Sherryl and arranged for the Warrior’s Promise to attend our Warrior Olympics in September so more of our service members and families could learn about the foundation and how it can help in times of need.
As Chairperson of our FRG, I receive phone calls and emails from soldiers and their families when they need help financially, emotionally, or are in crisis situations. In December I received an email about a young service member whose parent passed away, and he was in charge of the arrangements. He is a full-time college student with a part-time job, and financially had no way to take care of the obligation. I emailed Sherryl on a weekend and explained the situation, and she responded immediately. I was very impressed that she would take the time out of her weekend to respond. She worked with us and helped to get the funeral home to donate services, contacted the county to make sure the family would not be expected to pay anything back and made the whole process easier for the service member and his siblings.
Our unit is expected to be deployed late next summer, and with deployment comes many unexpected and unpleasant situations for the families left at home. My job is easier when there are resources like the Warrior’s Promise Foundation to turn to in times of need.

Sincerely,
Pam Katus
