Soldiers get help for the holidays 10th SFG(A) Public Affairs Office
FORT CARSON, Colo. (USASOC News Service, Nov. 21, 2008) - The military continually receives support from organizations and outside support systems, but especially during the holidays.

10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Soldiers are receiving some of this incredible support from the Warrior’s Promise Foundation this holiday season in the form of gift certificates that can be used at the Fort Carson commissary.

The foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Military Veterans, is dedicated to providing assistance to members of the military community; active forces, National Guard, Reserve, past and present including their family members. Their mission: to improve the quality of life for the men and women of the military community in need and to give back to those who have given so generously.

Boots and Berets, a company focused on delivering innovative products, such as the unique drink FUBAR (Fueled Up Beyond All Recognition) , is a proud sponsor of the Warrior’s Promise Foundation and worked with 10th SFG(A) to get the certificates to needy families.

The foundation provides, but is not limited to, living expenses, medical expenses, travel costs for families to be with injured loved ones, scholarships, and care packages. These donations from the community foundation are not given lightly and needs are confirmed by the commands prior to money being arranged.

The foundation is working with several military units to help ease the stress and bring great joy and happiness to many homes of the military community during this season.

Additionally during this giving time of year, the Colorado SF Association Rocky Mountain Chapter 4-24, continues their holiday tradition collecting new, unwrapped toys during their annual Christmas Party and the giving of 25 turkeys that will be supplemented with "fixings" gathered during a 10th SFG(A) Chaplain “food drive” to provide additions to the food baskets.

During the holidays, especially this year of hard economic times, gifts received for Soldiers are appreciated more than ever. Organizations such as these are becoming a part of our communities and giving back, honoring the commitment and sacrifices of our armed forces. Thanks are never enough for their support and allegiance to Soldiers and their families.
